Apple Has ‘Good News’ For These iPhone Users: What You Need To Know
Apple will bring a host of new features with iOS 17.2 update this month for iPhones users but even the older models are getting some upgrades.

Apple is busy readying the new iOS 17.2 version that will bring some interesting features for iPhone 15 and 15 Pro users but the good news is that even the older iPhones will get some new capabilities with the next iOS update.

And before the iOS 17.2 public version is rolled out, Apple is using developer’s help to fix any teething issues with the iOS 17.2 beta version. Recently we spoke about the new features that iPhone users can expect with the iOS 17.2 update but now it seems even those using 2 or 3-year-old iPhones will activate and improve on existing features. Those using the iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 model will be excited to know that their models will offer faster charging speeds that too in the wireless mode.

As you might know, the latest wireless charging standard is Qi2 which offers charging speed up to 15W. Most of the older wireless-compatible iPhones only charge at 7.5W but after the iOS 17.2 update their charging speeds will be boosted.

The details about these changes have been spotted in the final public update of iOS 17.2 which talks about Qi2 charging support for older iPhones. You might say that moving from 7.5W to 15W is hardly an upgrade but for those still using the iPhone 13 or 14 model, this is a free upgrade which they didn’t see coming.

Apple hasn’t confirmed that Qi2 charging speeds on these older iPhone will be the same as the new models but we’ll be surprised if the improvements are negligible on the charging front. Either way, having support for Qi2 charging also means that iPhone 13 and 14 models will be compatible with MagSafe-like features without having to spend extra on MagSafe chargers.

In most cases, Apple users end up spending more for new features or additions but we’re eager to see how this iOS 17.2 update works out for people still sticking to their old iPhones.
