Apple launched its first Vision Pro headset recently and it seems lakhs of people have picked up the $3,499 (Rs 2.90 lakh approx) headset in quick time. Apple has talked about opening the world to spatial computing which is nothing but having a computer attached to your face and all sorts of cameras giving you a real life-like virtual experience.
So, how are people using the headset during their free time and what are they doing with it? Well, the visuals coming out on social media in the past few days suggest Vision Pro owners are doing just about everything with the headset over their face. Flying in a plane? Check. Riding the metro and getting some work done? Check. Eating food in a restaurant with a friend? Check.
But some cases even show people crossing the road or sitting behind the wheel and still wearing the headset. Imagine, if a person is driving wearing the Vision Pro headset and that leads to human error which causes major road accidents and takes someone’s life.
Now, these are some unique but dangerous instances that show Apple needs to be careful about how people use the headset. The company could bring a special mode which activates or disables when a person is using the Vision when they are in motion.
It’s not all doom and gloom with Apple’s mixed reality headset. People have over 600 apps to use the headset which includes Microsoft Excel, mail, weather app giving you a virtual experience of the conditions in your area. You also have games to enjoy on the device. Reviews of the headset have mostly shared a mixed opinion, purely because this is a first-gen device and people expect a lot more from the company with the next few iterations.
