New Delhi: Google is trying to make its Maps feature all the more helpful with a new feature that lets you take a detour from your current route in case you run out of fuel or have to pick up groceries on your way to the destination.
With the new feature, Google Maps will be able to tell you which fuel station is the nearest, let you compare prices, and add detours to your route, all without having to exit out of navigation.
Helpful in situations like visiting a distant friend and picking up gifts on the way or simply locating a coffee shop before you reach the interview destination, all one needs to do is tap on the magnifying glass icon at the top right corner of the screen and pick the desired option from the drop-down menu.
If the drop-down menu doesn’t show the option which you need, you can always add a detour of your own by tapping on the search icon or through voice commands.
The new Google Maps will be rolled out over the next few weeks to Android users.
