Humane Ai Pin Could Make Its Way To India Soon; Talks With Indian Telecoms Underway
Humane, in a conversation with MoneyControl, revealed that it is currently engaged in discussions with Indian telecom companies to pave the way for the AI Pin's launch in India.

In November of last year, Humane, a company co-founded by former Apple employees, unveiled its inaugural product—the Humane AI Pin. Scheduled for shipping in the US in March, the $699 device left uncertainty regarding its availability in India.

Now, Imran Chaudhari, the Chairman of Humane, shared in a conversation with MoneyControl that the company is currently engaged in discussions with Indian telecom companies to pave the way for the AI Pin’s launch in India.

Chaudhari expressed optimism, stating, “We are starting early conversations with India telcos and hoping to be able to make announcements by the end of this year. The overwhelming number of inquiries that are coming to Humane are from India. It is the largest by far,” as revealed to MoneyControl.

Chaudhari also revealed that the company is looking to expand the device’s use cases. “One such case is in the medical space, where we are working with partners to use it for diagnosis using the contextual compute capability,” he said. Further, he added, “People want something new beyond smartphones…they want some presence and freedom. We’re really on technology now, but it just takes us away. If we have a better way to integrate technology in our lives, most of us would want it.”

For those unfamiliar, the Humane AI Pin is an AI-centric device designed to be pinned to clothing, offering a range of functionalities such as making calls, sending messages, and conducting various searches. The system consists a square device accompanied by a battery pack, easily attachable to one’s shirt. Interaction with the device is facilitated through voice commands and a palm-projected laser for control.

The standalone device is priced at $699 (approximately Rs 58,000), with an additional monthly subscription of $24. This subscription provides users with a phone number and data to power the device’s functionality for addressing user queries.

Founded in 2017, Humane has successfully raised nearly $200 million from prominent industry figures, including Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, Microsoft, and Qualcomm.
