iPhone 16 Pro models have launched with the new A18 Pro chipset that takes flagship performance to a new level with its 16-core neural engine powering AI features. Most people in India were fearing the worst when they saw the new iPhone 16 Pro series announced and wondering how many kidneys it will take to buy them this year. However, Apple has shared some enticing news for buyers in India who can pick up the iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max for a much cheaper launch price than last year’s iPhone 15 Pro series.
Cheaper iPhone 16 Pro Models In India – Here’s How
As you might recall, the Indian government decided to cut the customs duty rates on mobile components back in July this year. Apple adopted the changes and revised the iPhone 15 prices a few days later. Now, we might be seeing its impact on the iPhone 16 Pro models as well. The new iPhone 16 Pro launch price in India is Rs 15,000 cheaper than what you paid for the iPhone 15 Pro series at launch in 2023 which started at Rs 1,34,900 for the base iPhone 15 Pro and Rs 1,59,900 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.
If that wasn’t believable enough then Apple is reportedly planning to start making the iPhone 16 Pro models in the country later this year, which could also have a big impact on how the new premium iPhones are priced in the market.
Till date, the Pro versions have been manufactured in China, mostly because of the higher component quality and technical workforce on offer. The iPhone Pro model is built using titanium materials, higher version cameras and other advanced tech that needs a better equipped workforce.
The latest development suggests Apple is happy with Foxconn’s setup and confident that its Indian unit can now assemble the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max versions this year.
