The PlayStation Network (PSN), Sony’s online gaming and media delivery service for PS consoles, is facing a global outage for more than 24 hours. According to the site status tracker, DownDetector, the network reported maximum number of issues at 8 PM IST on February 27, while issues have been lingering since February 26. Sony has also updated its website saying, “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features.” The PlayStation website is unresponsive since today (February 28) morning.
DownDetector notes that users on PSN are facing sign-in and social issues. High amounts of errors were reported at 8 AM IST today as well. Due to the current outage, some users with the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 consoles are unable to play title online. Similarly, select apps may fail to launch or work properly, meaning you cannot use YouTube or the console for a while. Other social apps like Spotify, Twitch, Netflix, among many more, may also fail to function. There appear to be no solutions to fix PSN being down on the end-user’s side. Users can sign-in to the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store, but online gaming doesn’t appear to work on some titles. Sony says “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.” As expected several Sony PS owners took to Twitter and other social media platforms to raise concerns over the outage. It is unclear whether users in India are facing the error too.
