New Delhi: A new type of wearable device lets you store or access your data on-the-go without an Internet connection.
Called ReVault, it is the world's first wearable private cloud that you can wear either as a watch, a neckpiece, or simply carry it in your pocket to securely access and sync all your files across devices at the speed of a local network.
The innovative device sports a 1.54-inch 240 × 240 pixel color display and connects to your devices using WiFi and Bluetooth. It comes with 32GB and 128GB storage options.
Listed on Indiegogo, ReVault can automatically backup freshly created files on your smartphones, tablets, or computers. As it works entirely offline, it is less prone to hackers or government snoopers. Although the data stored on the device is encrypted using AES-256, you also have the option to password protect the app using single or two-factor authentication.
If you want to wear it as a watch, ReVault comes with a large variety of bands to choose from, including tapered or mesh stainless steel band, or a black leather skin.
You can also select a face for your private cloud data; set it to a digital or analogue clock; or display both. It comes with a stainless steel case that is water resistant and a display that is protected with Gorilla Glass 3.
ReVault’s battery is said to last for around 3 days with regular usage and you can charge it using a standard Qi Wireless Charger.
The ReVault app is compatible with Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems. The private cloud storage has been priced at $199 for a 32GB model and $299 for a 128GB variant.
The campaign has 29 days left to reach its goal of $65,000, before it starts shipping in January 2016.
