Ever since Amazon officially launched Alexa in 2015, it has evolved into a reliable companion, delighting users with its knowledge and witty responses, along with addressing queries about the year’s trending topics, in the fields of politics, entertainment, tourism and sports. Interestingly, last year, Indian users showed a growing interest in Bollywood and surprisingly, the most frequently asked questions during this period revolved around celebrities’ net worth and the top spot was claimed by the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan.
Despite facing career challenges, SRK made a successful comeback in 2023 with blockbuster films like Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, which gave a further boost to his stardom, as well as his net worth. According to a World of Statistics list from January 2023, SRK ranks as the third richest actor globally and has a net worth of $770 million.
In addition to SRK, the list also included prominent figures like cricketer Virat Kohli, whose estimated net worth exceeds Rs 1,000 Crore, as per Money Control. Following closely is former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, also with a net worth surpassing Rs 1,000 Crore. Indian users also expressed curiosity about the wealth of other influential individuals, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Taylor Swift, Lionel Messi, Alia Bhatt and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
Revealing the list, Amazon stated, “Customers in India have asked 37% more questions than the previous years across a diverse range of topics. From global affairs to general knowledge, trivia, and sports. Celebrities remained in the spotlight, with Alexa fielding inquiries about their net worth, ages, and identities.”
In addition to inquiries about celebrity net worth, Alexa users in India showed a keen interest in popular culture and general knowledge. Questions about personalities like Alia Bhatt, the contestants of Bigg Boss and Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s age indicated curiosity about celebrities and their details.
Additionally, a search for the hit song Naatu Naatu from the movie RRR also remained a popular search. On the other hand, users were also interested in global affairs and history by asking about the richest person in the world, current birthdays and historical events.
Following the success of back-to-back hits like YRF’s Pathaan, Jawan directed by Atlee Kumar and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan has not officially revealed his next project yet. However, numerous reports indicate that the King of Bollywood is set to share the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan. The young star kid made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. The father-daughter movie will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
