Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, is known for his active social media presence, where he often shares uplifting stories. Recently, he gave a shoutout to Sudhir Bhave, a 75-year-old mechanical engineer from Vadodara, Gujarat for creating affordable foldable and fitness cycles. Mahindra praised Bhave’s hard work and according to the industrialist, innovation is not only limited to the youngsters. To give a boost to his innovation, the business tycoon even invited Bhave to use Mahindra’s workshop in Vadodara for his future projects. The video of Bhave’s work shared by Mahindra on X captured the internet’s attention, as it garnered over 1 lakh views and tons of positive comments from users who were impressed by Bhave’s creativity.

Sharing the video, Mahindra wrote, “This wonderful story showed up in my inbox today. I bow low to Sudhir Bhave’s irrepressible creativity and energy. Sudhir has demonstrated that inventiveness & a startup DNA in India is not only the prerogative of the young. And if you want to use the workshop of our Vadodara factory for your experiments, do let me know. No Sudhir, you are not ‘retired.’ You are in the most active & innovative period of your life.”

In the video, Sudhir Bhave can be seen showing several of his unique cycle designs, including one that offers an upper body workout similar to an elliptical machine found in a gym. He also created an electric bicycle which can turn into a manual cycle if the battery runs out.

According to earlier reports, Sudhir Bhave, who graduated in Mechanical Engineering from MSU in 1973, spent 40 years working in the steel industry. After retiring, when he visited America, there he came across an elliptical bicycle, but its high price inspired him to create a more affordable version using his engineering skills.
