Often, while travelling from one city, state or country to another, people choose to get accommodation at hotels. Hotels become the first choice for travellers as they are clean, offer amenities and at times, and great complimentary breakfast. This saves a lot of time as the traveller does not have to step out of the hotel in search of food. However, as per a travel expert, there are a few food items one should not eat for breakfast at hotels.
Reportedly, a few food items have been blacklisted at many countries and hotels, but are still served for breakfast. You should avoid eating these at all costs. Here are a few food items you must not eat-
Fried Potatoes
Fruit salad
Pancakes
Fried Eggs
Pre-cooked meat
Spicy Foods
Raw Oysters
Jam
Peanut Butter
Marmalade
Most of these things are a favourite food item of many. But, why avoid these particular food items only? Well, Alberta-based microbiologist, Jay Tetro, advises avoiding eating any kind of spices and spreads. If the hotel offers a breakfast buffet, then one must avoid mayonnaise, lemon slices and salads as well. Hence, he suggests that it might be a good idea to inform the hotel of the things you would not wish to eat. According to the expert, no matter how clean these look, they are not and are a home for bacterial growth.
One more food item the expert believes one must stay away from is sauce sachets. He opined that although the sauce is packaged and has no way to be exposed to the air, the sachet itself might have been touched by multiple people, thus making the packaging dirty, which cannot be seen by the naked eye.
But if you think that you have almost stopped eating everything, then you are wrong. According to Jay Tetro, one can choose to have nuts, local fresh fruits, cheese, avocado, omelette, quiche, smoked salmon and meat cold cuts.
