A strange group of thieves is on the prowl in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, terrorising the residents with its unusual burglary methods. The gang has broken into several homes, but instead of rushing to steal valuables, they first head to the kitchen and cook pakoras.
Not just that, they also enjoy whatever food they find in the fridge, and take time to relax inside the homes they target. Following a similar tactic, the pakoda gang recently looted a resident of Sector 25, from where they ran away with jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh.
According to The Indian Express, the Gang doesn’t just cook and rest, they also take beedis, drink water and chew paan, which they spit in the victims’ bathroom. Following numerous such incidents, the police have launched an investigation, while Deputy Superintendent of Police Hridesh Katheria has set up a special task force to catch the thieves. Shockingly, the gang managed to rob six homes in a single day. Due to the increasing number of cases, locals are taking precautions by locking their doors and staying inside out of fear.
In Sector 82, the thieves stole cash, jewellery and valuable items worth Rs 40 Lakh, India Today reported. The thieves targeted a house while the owner was in Madhya Pradesh with his entire family. Reportedly, they quietly broke the lock, made pakodas in the kitchen and left the house with the stolen goods. When the owner finally returned, he found used tissue papers left behind. The gang followed the same pattern and targeted more houses in the same sector where residents were away for long periods.
Interestingly, their tactics seem like they were inspired by Vijay Sethupathi’s latest movie Maharaja, where the character, played by Anurag Kashyap, prepares and eats a delicious meal before robbing the owners.
In an earlier bizarre incident, a burglar in Lucknow was caught sleeping at the crime scene. The man, who was intoxicated, broke into Dr Sunil Pandey’s house while the owner was in Varanasi for work. While the intention of the thief was to steal valuable items, he noticed the air conditioner, turned it on and fell asleep on the living room floor. Later, when the neighbours noticed the front gate was open, they immediately alerted both Pandey and the police. When the cops arrived, they found the burglar peacefully asleep.
