In recent times, restaurants and cafes have been coming up with creative ways to present their dishes to customers, adding to the unique surroundings, great taste and ambiance. With that said, while the summer is already here, chilled beverages have become a top favourite at cafes. One such chilled beverage has taken on a creative form at a Japanese cafe in Kyoto. A video going viral shows the cafe serving traditional iced coffee in a massive ice cube, adding more to the uniqueness of the beverage.

Shared on the Instagram handle of The Coffee Lifestyle, the video shows the waiter serving a cup of black coffee along with vanilla ice cream, milk, syrup and a large ice cube with a glass-shaped hole in it. As the video proceeds, the waiter pours the coffee, milk and ice cream into the ice cube and mixes them well before final serving.

As mentioned in the post, the unique beverage is served at Cafe 33 in Japan’s Kyoto city. It costs around 2,000 yen (Rs 1,072,61). A special feature of the beverage is that it is only served for a couple of hours in the afternoon to a total of five customers in a day.

Giving details about the iced coffee preparation, the user wrote, “This ice cube is made specially for this menu by an ice master and you pour the cold brewed coffee inside to drink. Served with milk, syrup and vanilla ice cream. There are 2 portions of coffee, so for the 1st cup, drink it black or as an iced latte to enjoy the flavor of coffee itself. For the 2nd portion, drop in the vanilla ice cream and enjoy a cold ice cream float!.”

The video has attracted a lot of attention on social media, with users dropping divided reactions. While some were left surprised with the price of the coffee, a few seemed confused about the purpose of the massive ice cube.

A user wrote, “So what should I do after finishing the coffee? Eat the ice, discard it or take it back home???”, while another commented, “That’s not iced coffee. That’s coffeed ice.”

“I went to a craft coffee bar in kyoto and it was beautiful. Every aspect of your coffee was premium,” another one wrote.
