Guinness title holder Donald Gorske has extended his record for the most Big Mac burgers eaten in a lifetime. The 70-year-old consumed as many as 728 more Big Macs throughout 2023. His Guinness World Record now stands at 34,128 Big Macs.

According to Guinness World Record, Donald Gorske ate his first Big Mac around 52 years back, on May 17, 1972. “I’m going to probably eat these for the rest of my life.’ I threw the cartons in the back seat and started counting them from day one,” he recalled.

The retired prison officer from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA kept note of each and every burger he had for all these years. He even has the containers and receipts with him.

Although he had been hogging headlines for the matter, Donald Gorske set the world record in 1999. Initially, he used to have 9 burgers a day but now he has reduced his intake to two burgers a day – one for lunch and the other for dinner.

As per the record-curating organisation, Gorske used to drive down to McDonald’s every day to get fresh burgers. However, since his retirement, the 70-year-old buys the burgers twice a week in batches. He eats one as he visits the fast food chain to pick up his order and carries the rest home to savour later.

Interestingly, the retired prison officer doesn’t eat much other than his daily count of Big Macs. If hungry, he munches potato chips, fruit bars or has ice cream. Despite trying Burger King Whopper once back in 1984, the old man prefers to stick to his regular Big Mac. “When I like something, I stick with it all the time,” he noted.

No wonder his love for Mac burgers knows no bounds, so much so that he proposed to his wife Mary, in the parking lot. “She has put up with a lot of obsessive compulsive things I do and hasn’t let my Big Mac thing get to her,” the Guinness record holder added.

The best part is, despite having eaten more than 34,000 burgers throughout his life, Gorske claims that he never had any health issues. To maintain his health, he avoids french fries with his burgers and walks for six miles daily.
