It is believed that the mothering instinct is often the same across animal species. Whether it’s a mother bear or a lioness, the commitment to safeguarding offspring remains a common trait. Now a video is raking in likes that shows a mother bear running around a young cub to guide it cross the road. At one point, the ‘frustrated’ bear picks up the cub by the scruff and pushes it towards the other side of the road. The cub tries to move out of its mother’s range but the bear manages to push it across the road safely.
The mother bear’s struggle with keeping her cub under control was recorded by a group of people who had parked their car on the side of the road so that the mother bear and the cub could easily cross over. This undated video was posted on Instagram on January 13. So far, it has gathered over one lakh views.

Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “In her defense she asked nicely 6 times before this, cut her some slack she’s doing her best." Another person wrote, “This is exactly how I take my kids to the checkout line from the toy section at Target." Someone else remarked, “That is not anger you are seeing. It is fear. The adult bears watch cubs get killed on roads all the time. They remember everything they see."
Back in March 2021, The Winchester Police Department, in Connecticut, USA shared a similar video that showed a mother bear picking up her cubs and one by one carrying them across the road.
The police department captioned the video, “CAUTION BEAR CROSSING! The weather is getting nicer and the wildlife is coming out to play! Please use caution while driving and avoid interacting with these animals! The other day a mama bear and her four cubs were seen crossing Rowley Street (a 40 MPH road). Thank you to those who were patient and helped keep the bears safe while the mama bear tried to get her cubs across the street."
Commenting on it, a Facebook user wrote, “A few bear crossing signs would be good in this town to make people aware.." Another person argued, ‘Not cute at all, very stressful for the momma bear. Good reason for building more wildlife crossings."
