A nurse in the USA was ready to enjoy a meal at one of her favourite restaurants but she left with a bad taste in her mouth after she was asked to leave for violating the restaurant’s dress code. Y’Mine McClanahan was at the Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when she was told that they can’t host her because of her revealing clothes. At the time, Y’Mine McClanahan, who is a nurse, was wearing a two-piece outfit consisting of a floral tube top and a matching long skirt.
She recorded the interaction on camera when she asked the restaurant co-owner, Dori Murvin, “I just wanted to get it on camera why I can’t come in with what I have on.” Dori Murvin said, “This is just too revealing at the top.” Y’Mine McClanahan said that she came to the restaurant two weeks ago in the same outfit but it was not a problem. To this, Dori Murvin said that she couldn’t talk about her visit because she was not in the restaurant at the time.
Y’Mine McClanahan posted about this incident on her Facebook and wrote, “I was just “kicked out” of Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood of Baton Rouge, a place I’ve patronized for years in an outfit I’ve worn there SEVERAL times.” Y’Mine McClanahan also shared a small video of the restaurant’s waitresses who were wearing mini skirts with fishnets and argued that when their staff can wear such clothes then why her outfit was deemed risque.

She added, “The craziest thing about Stab’s is the hostess was just about to seat me until the “owner” stopped her from doing so.” The nurse mentioned that Stabs Prime Steak and Seafood’s “Central” location is where she usually eats and she was only refused service over her clothes at the Jefferson-Baton Rouge location.
As per the Stab’s Prime Restaurant’s website, their dress code is “business casual”. It prohibits, “Gym Wear, Sweat Pants, Tank Tops, Clothing with Offensive Graphics or Language, Exposed Undergarments or Revealing Clothing. Cut-off shorts and Flip Flops. Torn Jeans.” Interestingly, co-owner Dori Murvin in the video was wearing a tank top, which is also a violation of the dress code.
Now, Y’Mine McClanahan’s Facebook post has been garnering much traction, with many people criticising the restaurant for having a vague dress code with words like “revealing clothing” that are open to interpretation. A Facebook user called out the restaurant’s co-owner and commented, “She’s literally pointing to her shoulders as “too revealing”. Since when are shoulders offensive when the waitress is dressed like a bottle girl? This seems much deeper than clothing.”
