A comedian’s touching interaction with an Indian-origin woman is capturing hearts online. During his stand-up performance, Iranian comedian Max Amini had a poignant exchange with a woman named Ritika, who had reserved a seat in memory of her late father. Amini’s blend of humour and empathy, upon hearing Ritika’s reason, not only entertained the audience but also deeply moved viewers.
The moment began when a woman entered the packed auditorium and noticed an empty seat next to Ritika. Despite the seat being unoccupied, Ritika, who had placed her handbag on it, refused to let the woman sit there. This prompted Amini to interject, saying, “Wait a minute! I asked if anybody was sitting there and you said no.” Ritika then shared her story, stating, “No! So I lost my father last year, and wherever I go I purchase a seat just for him.”
Touched by her story, Amini responded with, “That’s sweet.”
After learning Ritika’s name and the reason behind the gesture, he added, “I believe also when they say when somebody passes away, they’re always with you, yeah? And I am Iranian and I lost my father in 2015.” However, Amini also shared that he would never do something like that because it would make his father’s soul “so unhappy.”
What followed had the audience in stitches as Amini joked, “My father would be like ‘Max Amini why are you wasting money? I am in heaven having a great time! What did I teach you? You grow up to be an idiot! You buy seat for me? Stupid! I am in heaven having a good time. I don’t even want to hangout with you’.”
Amini’s playful response didn’t stop there. Pointing towards Ritika, he added with a grin, “Hold on one second. Hold on. Did you hear that? I just heard your father laugh!” He continued in a humourous Indian accent, ‘What a funny guy! I don’t care. I like to come sit next to my daughter and watch your show, Max Amini’.”
The video was posted over four weeks ago with the caption, “Fathers are always trying to teach us in the only way they know how, even if they’re not around! Happy Father’s Day weekend, everyone!”
