Watch: Stand-Up Comedian Faces Awkward Silence After Cracking A Joke On Royal Challengers Bengaluru
In the now-viral video, a stand-up comedian can be seen struggling to deliver her one-liners.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are yet to win the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB’s hopes of winning the IPL last season also came to a sad end after they were knocked out in the Eliminator. 16 years on and the team is still struggling to fulfil their supporters’ hopes but it seems like the constant failure and heartbreaks are not enough to budge the unconditional support of RCB’s loyal fanbase. This became even more evident after a stand-up comedian was greeted with an awkward silence over her RCB joke. A video of a stand-up gig at a Bengaluru comedy club has now gone viral on the Internet.

In the video, the woman cracks a joke on the RCB supporters and says, “Pata hai Bangalore mei RCB ko andha support karne ki ek bimari hai, [Bangalore has a disease of blindly supporting RCB].” Unexpectedly, her joke fell flat and she had to deal with a silent reaction from the audience.

While she put on a brave face and delivered a few other jokes about the Bengaluru-based IPL franchise, the reaction was pretty similar, as the audience refused to smile or even applaud, thus creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

The video instantly went viral, drawing diverse reactions. While many supported the comedian for her calmness and perseverance, some even offered constructive feedback. One user wrote, “I think she’s a beginner, respect her. She is trying to make people laugh. Not like other lady comedians who humiliate their own parents and crack jokes on them.”

Another person lauded her efforts and commented, “It’s good she kept going. Every comedian goes through this.”

“Possibly one of a handful professions where feedback is real time, most can’t handle it. Kudos to her for taking the 1st step at least,” read a comment.

A social media user suggested that the comedian needs to work on her punchlines. “I think her jokes are good. I just need to work on her delivery and punchlines. She needs to pause between lines. She may be a beginner.”

On the other hand, few others could not contain their laughter, as they found the overall situation funny.

RCB’s IPL 2024 journey came to an end at the Eliminator after they were beaten by Rajasthan Royals by four wickets. It was Kolkata Knight Riders who went on to lift the IPL trophy last season.
