No Tsunami warning has been issued following the earthquake.
A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck northern Chile on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said, with no tsunami warning immediately issued.
The epicenter of the tremor was located 164 miles (265 kilometers) east of the coastal city of Antofagasta, at a depth of 78.5 miles (126 kilometers).
Chile ranks among the most earthquake-prone nations globally due to its location on the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire,” an area known for frequent volcanic eruptions and seismic activity.
In 2010, over 500 people lost their lives after a massive earthquake of 8.8 magnitude jolted the country and triggered the tsunami.
