As India braces for its 75th Republic Day celebrations this Friday, the Delhi Traffic Police has rolled out a parking advisory affecting four major railway stations in the capital.
From 10 pm Thursday until 12 pm Friday, parking will not be permitted at New Delhi, Old Delhi, Nizamuddin, and Anand Vihar railway stations.
The advisory, quoted by news agency PTI, emphasizes the temporary parking halt due to Republic Day festivities. However, alternatives will be available for pick-up and drop-off outside the stations, with authorities urging commuters to utilize public transport options.
The focal point of the celebrations, the annual Republic Day parade, is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 am on January 26th, tracing a route from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path. This year’s parade is set to spotlight women’s empowerment, themed ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat-Loktantra ki Matruka.’ Notably, an all-women tri-services contingent will participate for the first time, featuring Army military police alongside counterparts from other services.
Adding international flair, France’s President Emmanuel Macron will grace the occasion as the chief guest, with a French contingent, including members of Indian and Nepali origin, marching in the parade. Further, a French refueling aircraft and two Rafale jets will be part of the festivities, as reported by HT.
With security a top priority, over 14,000 personnel have been deployed in and around Kartavya Path, supported by advanced technology and human intelligence surveillance to ensure a safe and secure Republic Day celebration in Delhi.
