Rajinikanth’s Thar SUV Featured in Kaala Movie Poster is now in Anand Mahindra’s Collection

Anand Mahindra, Executive Chairman of Mahindra Group has a penchant to create news on Twitter. Every now and then, he posts something extraordinary on his Social Media account that creates excitement in the market. And his latest Tweet is no different! Back in 2017, Mr. Mahindra requested the producers of Rajinikanth's new movie, 'Kaala Karikaalan,' for the Mahindra Thar SUV used in the movie’s poster.

Anand Mahindra needed the Thar for the company's auto museum. The tweet by Mr. Mahindra read – “Whoever knows the whereabouts of the Thar used for this shoot please let us know. I'd like to acquire it for our company auto museum."

Dhanush, the producer of movie was prompt enough to reply saying the movie is still under production, and once it is completed, he'll make sure the SUV reaches him. Now that the movie is released, Dhanush has fulfilled his promise and provided Mr. Mahindra with the Thar, as announced by Anand Mahindra on twitter.

He said – “Remember I wanted the Thar used for the poster shot of Kaala for our museum? Well dhanushkraja obliged & it’s safe at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. I asked our folks to strike a Thalaivar pose & look what fun they had! (Bala, the guy in the lungi is now known as ‘KaalaBala’)"

This is not the first time Anand Mahindra has acquired something unique. Mr. Mahindra acquired an auto-rickshaw turned into the Scorpio SUV from a Kerala based driver and gave him a brand new Mahindra Supro instead.

The Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe engine that produces 105 bhp power at 3800 rpm and peak torque of 274 Nm. It gets the standard 4WD system.
