Indian techies get interactive platform
Unlike social networking, techTribe's focus is to facilitate formation of 'Tribes' of like-minded professionals.

New Delhi: With the objective of encouraging innovation and technology entrepreneurship in India, techTribe, a unique collaboration platform 'where innovators connect', was launched on Friday.

The software platform aims to enable Indian technology professionals in software and services to connect with like-minded people around the world; and collaborate on innovative solutions.

A yearlong campaign called connect2Develop also announced, where techTribe will award a grant of up to Rs 10 lakh each month to an innovative idea collaboratively developed by professionals using the techTribe platform.

The goal of connect2Develop is to "democratise opportunity" for entrepreneurial ventures, to provide grant funding for the most innovative ideas and to provide an avenue for technology professionals in India to embark on an entrepreneurial expedition.

Elaborating on the initiative, techTribe CEO Rohit Agarwal said, "India has a history of innovation beginning with the modern decimal system or the zero. The technology professional in India is a brilliant mind, with the ability and the education to impact global business operations. With techTribe, our goal is to provide an environment for professionals to comfortably connect with others, exchange ideas, and foster entrepreneurialism."

"More so, research has shown that there is an abundance of innovative ideas in India, waiting to see the light. Our goal is to democratize opportunity for professionals to take the next step towards innovation, and reward the collaborative development that fosters entrepreneurialism. connect2Develop is our humble way to remove some barriers to entry for new entrepreneurs, and we hope other technology companies in India support the effort with similar grants," he added.

Moving beyond basic social networking, techTribe enables Indian IT professionals to form 'Tribes' on any topic whether it be a Java widget or an entrepreneurial idea that gives birth to a new company.
