New Delhi: While presenting the first full-fledged Union Budget of the Narendra Modi government, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley listed three major achievements of his government.
Backing his Prime Minister's pet projects, Jaitley listed Jan Dhan Yojana and Swachh Bharat along with transparent auction of coal blocks as the major achievements.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, 12.5 crore families already have a bank account.
The transparent auction of coal blocks helped coal-producing states and is playing a crucial role in welfare of people, said Jaitley in his Budget speech in the Lok Sabha.
"Coal bearing states will get several lakhs of crores of rupees as royalty following transparent auction process," said Jaitley.
Under the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' 50 lakh toilets have already been constructed and the government is now targeting building 6 crore toilets.
The government is also planning two game changing reforms - Goods and Service Tax and JAM Trinity (Jan Dhan, AADHAR, Mobile Number) for easy transfer of cash. The GST will be implemented on April 1, 2016.
