Mumbai: The BSE Sensex edged higher on Tuesday, provisionally gaining 9 per cent in 2013 as sustained foreign investor flows offset widespread concerns about a domestic economy suffering from low growth but high inflation.

The Nifty ended up 0.19 per cent, gaining 6.74 per cent for the year.
Blue chips gained on Tuesday, with Reliance Industries closing up 0.78 per cent, Tata Motors ending 0.45 per cent higher and Tata Consultancy Services gaining 0.84 per cent.
Shares of Apollo Tyres Ltd surged 5.43 per cent after a deal to acquire US-based Cooper Tire & Rubber Co fell through late on Monday night.
