In Delhi, the Anti-Drug Squad caught hold of a gang while they were trying to smuggle drugs worth Rs 2,000 crore. During the interrogation, they revealed that they hail from Tamil Nadu and alleged that their leader was AR Jaffer Sadiq, producer and a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Amid this, the party expelled him on the grounds of anti-party activities.

Recently, director Ameer Sultan who was working with the producer for his upcoming movie Iraivan Miga Periyavan has expressed his shock. AR Jaffer Sadiq and director Ameer collaborated on Iraivan Miga Periyavan. Now, the director has reacted to the news of Jaffer’s alleged involvement in the drug case.

As per a report in the Hindustan Times, the statement addressed the press, website, radio and all other media friends and shared that in the last couple of days, he came across various news pieces about Jaffer, the producer of his movie Iraivan Miga Periyavan has left him shocked.

His statement further read that on February 22, when the director was shooting the final stages of the movie Iraivan Miga Periyavan, the shoot stopped abruptly. He did not know why the shoot of the movie was stopped and what exactly was happening. He was informed about the incident through the media and till now he does not know the truth. Ameer claimed, “However if there is any truth in the allegations in the news, he should be condemned and punished.”

Ameer further shared, “The media industry knows very well that I am always against the principle of making compromises with actors and producers to earn a lot of money. I would like to state that I will not continue to work with anyone involved in illegal activities.

Ameer Sultan made his directorial debut in 2002 with Mounam Pesiyadhe. He has delivered hit works like Raam, Paruthiveeran, Aadhi Bhagavan and Vada Chennai. His last directorial was Aadhi Bhagavan starring Jayam Ravi, Neetu Chandra, Sudha Chandran, and Mohan Raj to name a few. The movie was released in 2013.
