England posted a dominant win over Pakistan at Multan by an innings and 47 runs to take an early 1-0 lead on tour. The defeat stretched Pakistan's run without a Test win at home to a worrisome 1350 days.

The Pakistan Cricket team’s horrendous run in Test Whites continued as they went down to the touring England side in the opening Test of the three-match series on home soil on Friday.

England posted a dominant win by an innings and 47 runs to take an early 1-0 lead on tour.

The defeat at Multan stretched Pakistan’s run without a Test win at home to a worrisome 1350 days.

Pakistan, who won the toss and opted to have a bat first managed to post a total of 556 runs in the first innings with skipper Shan Masood top scoring for the hosts with a brilliant 151 runs, and was supported by Salman Ali Agha’s unbeaten ton of 104 runs.

There was another ton for this side as opener Abdullah Shafique also crossed the triple-figure mark with his 102-run contribution, while Saud Shakeel added 82 runs to his side’s cause.

Jack Leach led the English bowling unit with three wickets in the first innings, while Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carsere moved two batters each. Chris Woakes, Shoaib Basheer and Joe Root, all claimed a wicket each to bundle Pakistan out.

However, the English unit demonstrated their craft and guile with the bat as Harry Brook led the way with his mammoth innings of 317 runs. Root, who scripted history as he became the highest-scoring batter for England in Test Whites with his knock at Multan, added 262 runs to the scoreboard.

The English skipper Ollie Pope was dismissed for a duck, but the visitors had sizeable contributions from Zak Crawley at the top of the order as he added 78 runs, before Ben Duckett chipped in with an 84-run-innings.

Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub registered two dismissals each, while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Aamir Jamal and Ali Agha picked a wicket each as England declared their innings at 823 runs.

Leach led the demolition of the Pakistan batting order in the second innings as he sent four batters back to the hut, while Carse and Atkinson snapped up a couple of wickets each with Woakes adding another.

England will head into the second Test of the series, slated to begin on the 15th of October, with a 1-0 lead.
