AB de Villiers Confirms 'Second Child On the Way' For Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma
AB de Villiers said that Virat Kohli is spending time with his family and confirmed he is fine and doing well.

Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has confirmed that Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma are expecting a second child as this might be the reason for his absence in the first two Tests against England.

De Villiers shared a great camaraderie with Kohli since their time together with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, the Proteas legend was hosting a live session on his YouTube channel where a fan asked him about the absence of Kohli in the first two Tests.

The former RCB star said that Kohli is spending time with his family and confirmed he is fine and doing well.

“All I know is he is fine. He is spending a bit of time with his family, that is the reason he is missing the first two Test matches. I am not going to confirm anything else. I cannot wait to see him back. He is fine, he is doing well,” AB de Villiers said in his YouTube show on Saturday.

He also revealed the conversation he had with the Indian batting superstar in text messages.

“Let me just see what he said. I just want to at least give you (fans) a little bit of love,” he added.

“So I wrote to him ‘Been wanting to check in with you for a while now biscuits. How are you?’. He said ‘Just need to be with my family right now. I am doing well,” De Villiers revealed

“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that,” he added.

The former Indian captain tied the knot with Indian film actress Anushka Sharma in January 2017 and the couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, Vamika in January 2021. Kohli had previously taken paternity leave back in 2021 to be with his wife for the birth of their first child.

The India batting maestro last played for India in the T20I series against Afghanistan where he registered a duck in the final match. He was initially picked in the squad for the first two Tests against England but was later ruled out owing to personal reasons. However, the BCCI has not stated that whether he will return to the squad for the last three Tests or not.
