Afghanistan star Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been in a red-hot form lately. He hit headlines after a sensational show in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa which Afghanistan won 2-1.
Before the bilateral tour began, the Afghan wicketkeeper shared a short clip in which he could be seen getting hit on the helmet while training. The wicketkeeper-batter added former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan’s voiceover to the clip and wrote, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.”

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was on the helmet while sweating it out in the nets. After being stunned by the delivery, Gurbaz dropped his bat before sinking himself in the side net. Meanwhile, in the background audio, Imran Khan was heard saying, “The person who has the most talent doesn’t become the most successful… The person who becomes the most successful has a wider perspective and big dreams and then doesn’t give up.”
Just as the motivational speech concluded, Gurbaz was seen practising in the nets again. He hit a wide array of shots before the video ended.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been in peak form for Afghanistan recently. After the wicketkeeper was dismissed for a duck in the series opener against the Proteas, Gurbaz bounced back with a century in the second fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. His knock enabled the Afghans to beat South Africa by 177 runs. He followed up with another 89-run knock in the concluding game but his side lost by seven wickets.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s significant role in the Asian side’s 2-1 triumph over South Africa made him the first Afghanistan batter to crack the ICC Top 10 Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. He is currently placed eighth on the list.
