A below-par batting performance at MA Chidambaram Stadium resulted in Chennai Super Kings suffering their fifth defeat of this Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Wednesday. The defending champions lost to Punjab Kings by seven wickets in front of home fans.
Like every other home game of CSK, Chepauk played was packed with energetic fans, cheers and whistles echoing from every nook and corner of the iconic venue.
Among the crowd, there were many young supporters, who came to show their support for CSK. Highlighting their admiration for the team and MS Dhoni, the Chennai-based franchise shared a post on Instagram where some little fans, donning the yellow jersey, can be seen cheering for the five-time champions.

The post featured a photo of a toddler, who came to watch the match with his parents. Another girl was seen holding a placard, which had a request for Dhoni.
“Big MSD fan. Please come and bat for at least 5 overs. Love you, Thala,” read the message.
The young fan’s wish was fulfilled when Dhoni came to bat following the dismissal of CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. The wicket at Chepauk looked a bit tricky in the first innings, with the CSK batters struggling.

Dhoni, however, slammed a six and a four during his eleven-ball stay. While attempting to take two runs on the last ball, he was run out on 14.
This was the first time that Dhoni lost his wicket in the ongoing IPL after finishing unbeaten in seven innings.
Gaikwad was the top-performing batter for CSK. When other batters were struggling against the PBKS spinners, the talented opener held his own.
He played a composed 62-run knock while facing 48 deliveries. He struck five fours and two sixes.
CSK ultimately managed 162 for the loss of seven wickets.
PBKS did not face much trouble during the chase. With Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw excelling with the bat, the visitors comfortably reached the target with 13 balls to spare.
