Mayank Yadav, the young express pace bowler Lucknow Super Giants have in their hands has taken the cricketing world by storm following his second consecutive match-winning performance which came against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, it was not a straight ride to the top as he had to deal with injuries which kept him out of action in the previous season.
Speaking on his time out of action, Mayank credited the franchise for being there for his aide as the pacer missed out on the 2023 season. Speaking with JioCinema, the quick bowler revealed,” LSG backed me a lot. I spent time at the rehabilitation centre in Mumbai. My training was there as well during the off-season and LSG has played a major role in this”.
The 21-year-old also revealed the advice he received from the senior teammates from Delhi who told him to never compromise on his speed. He added,” Whomever I talked to in Delhi, be it Ishant bhaiya, or Saini bhaiya everyone just said that if I want to try something new, just play around with my speed. If I want to work on a new skill, make sure it is based on your speed. No need to compromise your speed to add any skills.”

The youngster also credited the late Tarak Sinha the founder of the Sonnet Cricket Club in Delhi for seeing the talent within him during his younger days. He said,” Sir has a major role. If I am here today, it is because Sir had backed me during my initial days, I would like to think that whatever I am now is because of him”.
The young pacer also mentioned his assessment of the track at Bengaluru and what he had discussed with the LSG skipper KL Rahul which led to him finishing with figures of 3/14 in his four overs. Mayank shared,” Initially, I thought there would be some spongy bounce. But in the second innings because of the dew, it was getting easier to play the length delivery which is also my go-to ball. Had a chat with Rahul Bhaiya and he said to back my strengths and to make use of the 2-bouncers per over rule to my advantage”.
