Talk about weaving magic. Harpreet Brar sure did the same today for Punjab Kings, as the leftie off-spinner’s phenomenal performance with the ball helped his side notch a dominant 7-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk last night.
Brar produced a Player of the Match performance with the ball, as the off-spinner ended his four-over spell against the hosts CSK with figures of 2/17, as he scalped the important wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube.

After a spirited start from CSK with the bat, Brar, along with leggie Rahul Chahar, conceded a mere 33 runs and scalped four wickets in their 8 overs altogether to exert a chokehold on the batting order, eventually restricting them to a subpar 162 runs.
“It was a good wicket to bowl on, and even Rahul bowled really well. I have been playing since 6 years, so my confidence has been pretty high. Now bowling to these legends of the game feels normal, I just bowl to my strengths,” stated a humble Brar in the post-match interview.
One of the biggest defining factors of Brar and Chahar’s spell was their ability to completely eliminate boundaries. In fact, neither of the bowlers conceded even a single boundary throughout their spells respectively, and were a huge reason behind holding CSK hostage as the hosts went on the longest boundary drought so far this season, one that lasted for 55 deliveries.
In fact, Brar also reinstated how he focuses on bowling dot balls as he believes that the discipline and the pressure it applies on the batters will eventually yield wickets.
“To be honest, I don’t think wickets, my aim is only to bowl lots of dot balls and dot balls create the wickets. When there is spin in the wicket, the bowlers confidence goes up and it is a bit helpful,” said Brar.
With their win tonight, PBKS hop up to 6th place in the IPL standings, right above Gujarat Titans, while CSK remain put on 4th place for now.
