Fans think Gautam Gambhir will be the best fit for the role of Team India’s head coach succeeding Rahul Dravid.

The Kolkata Knight Riders were spotless in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 1 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. It seems like Gautam Gambhir’s arrival in the Kolkata camp has done wonders for the two-time champions aiming for their third title. They have been in tremendous form this season winning nine group games and KKR finding themselves in the final. Amid the celebrations of making the ultimate game, a fan shared an impressive stat of the Kolkata ex-skipper. It talks about Gambhir’s track record in the IPL both, as a captain and a coach. The post read, “Playoffs in IPL 2011. Champions in IPL 2012. Champions in IPL 2014. Playoffs in IPL 2016. Playoffs in IPL 2017. Playoffs in IPL 2022. Playoffs in IPL 2023. Final in IPL 2024. The CV of Gambhir as captain and mentor in IPL”.

Several fans have now reacted to the impressive stat of Gautam Gambhir. Many of them have claimed that the Kolkata Knight Riders mentor could potentially be the coach of the Indian cricket team. “Need him as Indian coach”, wrote one of the fans.

Another one agreed by saying, “Gautam Gambhir is a coach and player who never learned how to lose. Gautam Gambhir led KKR to the finals.”

“Future coach of India”, read another response.

One fan highlighted KKR’s phenomenal show against the Sunrisers Hyderabad – “KKR thrashed SRH by 8 wickets.”

“His one move of bringing Sunil Narine as an opener is the master stroke for the franchise”, added another fan.

“KKR is nothing without Gautam Gambhir”, wrote one more.

The said statistic takes us back to 2011 when Gautam Gambhir first made the playoffs as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders. Within the next three years, Gambhir led the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise to two IPL trophies. He made back-to-back playoffs with Kolkata in 2016 and 2017 before leaving for the Delhi Capitals in 2018. Gambhir retired from the IPL as a player in the same season. In 2022, the World Cup-winning cricketer made a sensational return to the T20 extravaganza as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants. He guided the KL Rahul-led side to consecutive playoffs from 2022-23 before departing for Kolkata.
