IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Fresh Injury Concern for India as Yashasvi Jaiswal Retired Out After Hurting His Back
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a sparkling century in Rajkot before being retired hurt on 104.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting like a dream as he bossed over England bowlers on a docile Rajkot pitch. Jaiswal peeled off a dominant century while peppering the boundary to help India extend their lead past 300-run mark on Day 3 of the third Test against England.

Jaiswal reached his century, the third of his career, with a four and jumped high while punching the air, all pumped up. However, three overs later, the youngster began holding his back while looking visibly uncomfortable summoning the team physio.

It appeared he might have done his back some damage during that celebratory jump. After a brief on-field treatment, Jaiswal seemed good to go but the physio was called again after two overs with Jaiswal again experiencing pain in his back.

This time it was too unbearable and after scoring a strokeful 104 off 129, he retired hurt with Rajat Patidar walking in as his replacement.

Jaiswal is the latest injury concern for India as they have been hit by fitness issues to several players during the ongoing series. While Mohammed Shami will not feature in the entire series as he continues recovery from an ankle issue, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have also been hit by injuries.

Both Jadeja and Rahul sat out from the 2nd Test in Hyderabad.

Jadeja then made a successfull return from hamstring niggle to rejoin the squad in the third game in Rajkot, hitting a century in India’s first innings.

However, Rahul, despite being named in the squad for the remaining three matches, wasn’t deemed 100 per cent ready meaning he sat out from the third Test too.

There are also unconfirmed report of a stiff back and groin pain playing a role in middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer missing out on the squad for the last three Tests.

At the close of play on Day 3, India had extended their lead to 322 runs.
