India to Host Men's Asia Cup in 2025 in T20I Format
The Indian Cricket Team will defend their Men's Asia Cup title in 2025 with the tournament likely to be played in India in the T20I format.

India is likely to host the Men’s Asia Cup in 2025 while Bangladesh will be hosting the tournament in 2027 where it will be played in the 50-over format. The information was revealed in an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document released by the Asian Cricket Council for the Sponsorship Rights from 2024 to 2027.

The document released by the ACC suggested that the tournament could travel to India and Bangladesh. However, the document also suggested that the schedules, dates, years, formats and/or venues, of the ACC Tournaments are tentative and subject to change indicating that the hosting duties are yet to be finalised.

The 2023 edition of the tournament was meant to be hosted by Pakistan but due to the political tensions with India, the hosting duties were shared with Sri Lanka where the Indian team played all their games in the island nation including the knockout games where the Men in Blue decisively took home the trophy, beating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets.

Mohammed Siraj was the star in the finale as he finished with a six-wicket haul to destroy the Sri Lankan batting unit, bundling them out for just 50 runs.

The Indian team only picked up a singular loss in the 2023 tournament where they lost out to Bangladesh in their final Super 4 match losing out by 6 runs.

Currently, the Men in Blue are underway with Gautam Gambhir at the helm as their new Head Coach following Rahul Dravid’s departure after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

Gambhir’s stint is off to a flying start as they claimed the T20I series against Sri Lanka with a game to spare. Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the captain of the Indian T20I side following the retirement of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja and their new era is off to a dominant start with two comprehensive wins against the Lankan side.
