'Let it be Consistent for Other Players': AB de Villiers Comments on Virat Kohli’s Controversial Dismissal Against KKR - WATCH
Virat Kohli left fuming following his controversial dismissal vs KKR as RCB ended up on the losing side by a margin of just 1 run.

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter AB de Villiers has called for proper implementation of the rules following Virat Kohli’s controversial dismissal against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Providing his insight into Kohli’s dismissal at the Eden Gardens, De Villiers voiced that the rules should be applied to all the players in cricket and not just ace batters like Kohli. De Villiers shared a video on Instagram saying, “If Virat Kohli was out in this instance, just let it be consistent for the other players as well. You can’t then have a 50-50 calling in the other game and give it not-out”.

Speaking further in the video, AB de Villiers also pointed out the lack of clarity when it came to rules for instances such as these. “What my problem for the whole thing is the clarity of the rules. What if the batter keeps advancing?”, he asked.

AB De Villiers even questioned the rule by asking what the exact point was for deeming a delivery as above the waist. “At what point do you say that okay now we can actually get above waist height otherwise the ball’s gonna bounce like three times before it gets to the wicket. You know, where do you draw the lines? Things are getting a little bit silly and that’s why I cried out for the clarity in the rules”, he said.

Playing at the Eden Gardens on April 21, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru were tasked with a total of 222 runs by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Phil Salt played a super-fast 14-ball 48 before Shreyas Iyer added another 50 runs. Cameron Green had the best bowling figures for Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he scalped two wickets giving away 35 runs in four overs.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started the run chase for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Kohli scored an early 7-ball 18, smashing two sixes and a boundary. His lightning-fast start soon came to a halt in the third over. Kohli’s bat nicked off an elevated delivery from Harshit Rana and fell straight into the bowler’s hands. The delivery was then reviewed by the third umpire who claimed that Kohli had advanced on the pitch. Since the ball was gradually dipping, it would have been on line with the former India skipper’s waist, had he stayed on the line.

This led to the technology calling for Virat Kohli’s dismissal, a decision that did not sit well with the visiting side and their fans. The dismissal also proved to be a major turning point in the game as Royal Challengers Bengaluru, eventually, conceded a one-run defeat.
