Manav Suthar has been outstanding in India C’s opening game in the Duleep Trophy 2024 as he starred with a seven-wicket haul against India D on Saturday. The spinner set a new record within the tournament which will certainly put him in the spotlight as one to consider for the future.
Suthar’s seven-wicket haul has resulted in him registering the best bowling figures on debut at the Duleep Trophy. He surpassed the Tamil Nadu spinner, R Sai Kishore to create the new record.
Despite a lacklustre start in the first innings, Suthar was able to pick up seven wickets in the second innings to help India C in control as they went on to win the match by four wickets and a day’s play to spare.
The 22-year-old single-handedly cleaned up India D’s middle-order batting unit followed by the tail-enders to showcase his dominance in Indian conditions. By getting the wickets of set batters like Devdutt Padikkal and Ricky Bhui, India C was able to regain the momentum which turned out to be what they needed to take the win.

India C will play their second game of the tournament against India B in Anantapur once again where Suthar will be one of the players to watch out for as the conditions become more friendly for the spinners.
