New Zealand kept the pressure with probing lines and have barely given anything away. They will be happy with the two wickets but would have probably loved a few more. The Black Caps will hope to keep the pressure and pile the misery on the Proteas. Let’s see how both teams fare in the final session.

SESSION SUMMARY – 63 runs, 29 overs, 2 wickets. A much better session for the hosts, New Zealand who have removed two big wickets and are in solid control of this match. David Bedingham and Zubayr Hamza batted well and showed great application at the crease at the start of the second session. Hamza played a poor shot and will be ruining the missed opportunity, after getting a start. Most of the batters who got in failed to capitalize on the start and gave it away. Ruan de Swardt and David Bedingham have added 26 so far and will need to bat deep to take their side past the 300-run mark.

All in readiness now. The players and umpires are making their way out onto the park. Neil Brand and Clyde Fortuin will open the batting for South Africa. It will be Tim Southee with the new ball for New Zealand. Let’s go…

South Africa (Playing XI) – Clyde Fortuin (WK), Neil Brand (C), Raynard van Tonder, Zubayr Hamza, David Bedingham, Keegan Petersen, Ruan de Swardt, Shaun von Berg (In place of Duanne Olivier), Dane Piedt (In place of Edward Moore), Tshepo Moreki, Dane Paterson.

New Zealand (Playing XI) – Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young (In place of Daryl Mitchell), Tom Blundell (WK), Glenn Phillips, Matt Henry, Tim Southee (C), Neil Wagner (In place of Mitchell Santner), William O’Rourke (On Test debut) (In place of Kyle Jamieson).

TOSS – South Africa have won the toss and opted to BAT first.

On the flip side, South Africa started well with the ball but the inexperienced showed and failed to contain or put pressure for longer periods. Skipper Neil Brand picked up 8 wickets in the match with his left-arm spin while Dane Paterson also bowled in good areas. Only David Bedingham, Keegan Petersen, and Zubayr Hamza could muster the New Zealand bowling with the bat. Still, South Africa will have to play as a unit and show some resilience against the strong New Zealand side. Can South Africa fare better in the second Test or will New Zealand get an easy win? Let’s find out. Toss and team news in a bit. Stay tuned!

New Zealand had some notable performances with Kane Williamson scoring twin tons and Rachin Ravindra making a brilliant double hundred. Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Santner, and Matt Henry had decent outings with the ball and the Kiwis will hope to put in a similar effort in this Test to make it 2-0.
