Former Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri shares a great bond with ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. They have publicly been pretty vocal about their friendship, showering immense praise on each other. Chhetri, who recently bid farewell to Indian football, revealed the funny side of Kohli and said the ace Indian cricketer can ‘crack anyone up’ anytime.
Speaking on a podcast with YouTube Raj Shamani, Chhetri revealed his conversations with Kohli. The former footballer said it’s mostly about ‘food and funny memes’.
“Virat sends funny memes, I send back as well – that is the majority chat. Sometimes, we talk about life. The best thing is that, when I tell something, he says ‘I understand’,” Chettri told Shamani.
Describing Kohli’s nature as a human being, Chettri said, “I genuinely like him. Forget that he is Virat Kohli. The whole world knows it.”
“He is a good dude. He is genuinely a nice guy. I’m sure that many people will never get to know that part of him. He is amazingly funny. Even if I bring him and if you are oblivious to the fact that he’s Virat Kohli, he will crack you up. He is funny, apart from the fact that all the other great things he is. He is a good guy which is nowadays very difficult.
“Some way our upbringing is the same. We come from the same place, we have similar dreams; we just chose 2 different sports. That is why probably we connected. I have so much love & respect for him & his family,” he added.

Kohli retired from T20Is after World Cup triumph
Earlier on June 29, Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is after India lifted the T20 World Cup Trophy in Barbados, defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the grand finale.
“This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. One day you feel like you can’t get a run and this happens, God is great. Just the occasion, now or never kind of situation. This was my last T20 game playing for India. We wanted to lift that cup,” said Virat Kohli in the post-match presentation.
