KL Rahul will be back in action to lead the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, beginning Friday. Rahul’s team will begin its campaign against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday in Jaipur. The team has assembled in Lucknow and the players are sweating it out in the training session under the watchful eyes of newly-appointed head coach Justin Langer.
Before joining the LSG camp, skipper Rahul paid a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to offer his prayers to the deity. Rahul last featured for India in the recent Test series against England but was eventually ruled out after playing the first Test with a quadriceps injury.

Rahul has impressive figures in the IPL, having scored 4163 runs in 118 matches. Notably, he has breached the 600-run mark four times in the tournament and has four centuries to his credit, being only the second India with the most hundreds after Virat Kohli. Since making his debut in 2013, Rahul has smashed 33 fifties in his IPL career.
He had an underwhelming season last year in which he scored 273 runs in 9 matches before getting ruled out after suffering a significant quadriceps injury. Since then, Rahul spent the majority of his recovery phase at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
He made a stellar return to the Asia Cup 2023, eventually winning the tournament with India. Rahul also had a phenomenal showing at the ICC ODI World Cup where he broke the record for the fastest century scored by an Indian at the tournament. He produced his landmark ton in a mere 62 balls in their final group game against the Netherlands.
