A couple of deliveries later, he bowled a short ball to Jonny Bairstow who miscued the pull and holed out to Marcus Stoinis near the boundary line. Yadav thus bagged his first wicket in the lucrative T20 league, breaking the 4th-highest partnership against LSG in the IPL.

In his next over, Yadav got rid of a dangerous-looking Prabhsimran Singh right after getting hit for a six. Another short ball from the Delhi pacer and as the PBKS No. 3 looked to pull, he top-edged it to Naveen-ul-Haq at mid-on. In his final over, Yadav hunted down Punjab vice-captain Jitesh Sharma and interestingly, it was a short of a length delivery that did the trick again.
Who is Mayank Yadav?
It took Yadav two years to make his IPL debut since bagging an LSG contract in the IPL 2022 players’ auction at his base price; of Rs 20 Lakh. After warming the bench for the entire season, he was ruled out of the 2023 season due to an injury and was replaced by Arpit Guleria.
Yadav hogged the limelight in last year’s Deodhar Trophy, ending the season as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 12 scalps to his credit, including a 4-wicket haul against East Zone. He made his red-ball debut for Delhi in 2022 and picked up 2/46 in his only First-class game against Maharashtra. Unfortunately, Delhi lost the fixture by 9 wickets.
