Former Indian allrounder Suresh Raina was awestruck with MS Dhoni’s wicketkeeping brilliance as he reacted to it with a heartfelt note on social media. Dhoni was at the top of his game in Chennai Super Kings’ clash against the Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.
During the eighth over of the GT chase, CSK’s Daryl Mitchell got rid of Vijay Shankar thanks to an agile Dhoni diving to his right to pick up an impressive catch.
Amazed at Dhoni’s wicketkeeping prowess, Raina shared a video of the catch on Instagram. “Always going strong & inspiring everyone around”, the cricketer-turned-commentator wrote in his post.

This isn’t the first time that Raina has celebrated Dhoni’s genius and has often voiced his support for the former CSK skipper.
Raina was recently seen sharing a moment with Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of CSK’s tournament opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He visited Chepauk and caught up with his old mates who were practising in the nets.
The video of their meeting was later shared by the franchise on their Instagram account. They accompanied the clip with a famous Hindi song in the background named ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge’ from the Bollywood movie Sholay.

Coming back to CSK’s performance on Tuesday, the defending champions were spotless against a Shubman Gill-led GT. Playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK were put in to bat first by the visiting captain.
A couple of brilliant knocks from opener Rachin Ravindra, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and bliswShivam Dube enabled the host side to put up a big total of 206 runs.
GT made a rapid start but lost both their openers Gill and Wriddhiman Saha within the first five overs.
CSK’s bowling trio of Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande were able to keep GT batters humble. They combined for six wickets in the half, eventually securing a 63-run victory for the five-time IPL champions. It was Sai Sudharsan who had the best knock for former champions as he scored 37 off 31.
Having won both of their matches in the IPL 2024 season so far, CSK will now be looking to add a third this weekend. They will be taking on the Delhi Capitals on March 31 at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
