The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that all examination centres will have to be equipped with CCTV for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2025. This requirement is aimed at ensuring the integrity and fairness of the examinations. Around 44 lakh students are expected to appear for the examinations, which will be conducted across India and in 26 countries abroad. To accommodate this large number of candidates, around 8000 schools will serve as examination centres. The CBSE has developed a comprehensive CCTV policy that specifies the specific requirements for the placement and coverage of the cameras at the exam centres. Schools that do not currently have CCTV systems will have to install them, as per the guidelines.
The decision to make CCTV mandatory is in line with the CBSE’s commitment to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the exam process. By equipping all exam centres with CCTV cameras, the authority aims to prevent cheating and other irregularities and to provide students with a safe and conducive environment to demonstrate their knowledge.
“Board exams for Classes 10 and 12 for 2024-25 academic session to be conducted from February 15 next year,” cited a news report in May 2024. The official date sheet for students taking the upcoming board exams will be available soon in PDF format on the official website, cbse.gov.in.
As per previous trends, a separate date sheet for the practical exams will be released by the Board. Class 10 practical examinations will only be administered in front of school instructors, whereas an external examiner will visit schools for Class 12 practical exams.
