The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) released the results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024 on March 16. The results have been released for the exams which were held on February 3, 4, 10 and 11. Approximately 6.8 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. The applicants can check their results at–https://gate2024.iisc.ac.in/. The qualified candidates will now have to apply for GATE counselling to get admission to the top colleges for postgraduation and post-doctoral programmes. The Counselling of GATE consists of two main components. The Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and The Centralised Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT). The former facilitates admissions to IITs based on GATE 2024 scores, while CCMT manages admissions to IITs, NITs and GFTIs. Based on the GATE score, you get direct admission into doctoral programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science and humanities. Apart from this, jobs are also available in many reputed public sector companies like BHEL, HAL, IOCL, GAIL and many others.
Along with the IISc, seven Indian Insititute of Technology (IIT) institutions provide admission to post-graduate courses and doctoral programmes. These include IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.
Apart from this, there are many institutes which give admission based on GATE score. It includes BITS Pilani, NIT Tiruchirappalli, IIT Hyderabad SRM Institute of Sciences and Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Amity University, Jadavpur University, Vellore Institute of Technology, College of Engineering Pune, Delhi Technological University, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology Shibpur, Triple IT Allahabad, NIT Warangal and other NITs and GFTIs. These institutes offer admission to ME and MTech programs.
The applicant gets an ample amount of time to apply for admission. The scorecard of GATE 2024 remains valid for three years from the date of the result announcement. Credentials like total marks obtained by the candidates and All India Rank will be available on the scorecard of the GATE exam. The scorecard will be issued only to those who cross the cutoff score.
