At the 19th convocation of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), held at Atal Auditorium on Wednesday, Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel emphasised the importance of women’s education in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. She highlighted that education must extend beyond traditional classrooms and reach even Anganwadis in the modern era.
During her address via Local 18, Governor Patel stressed the significance of involving youth and children in the nation’s development. She encouraged students to establish strong connections with industries through internships and emphasized the need to link education with skills and employment opportunities. The Governor also urged the university to set admission targets for its 12 regional centres and promote increased enrolment through its study centres.
Vice Chancellor of South Bihar Central University, Bodh Gaya and principal guest at the convocation, Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, stated that the educational system must align with Indian cultural values and life perspectives. It will help students to give an inclusive India a tangible form. He informed the recipients of medals and degrees that to further the growth and development of research, educators will need to step up and lead an increasing number of research initiatives. Priority study fields will also need to be determined in compliance with regional, national, and worldwide regulations.
At the convocation, students who have graduated from various University schools will be awarded 26 gold medals, 16 of which will go to female students. Students who pass the exams during the university’s December 2023 and June 2024 sessions will also receive degrees. 31,940 such students are enrolled in total; 19,096 of them are male and 12,844 are female. Approximately 3,000 students have registered online and will receive their degrees at this event. Traditional Indian clothing will be worn for the convocation. Azamgarh regional centre student Arti Yadav will receive the Chancellor Gold Medal. She was the top student in both UG and PG programs at several academic institutions and received a first-division BSc. This time, seven postgraduate category best performers across seven fields received University Gold Medals. Seven winners received University Gold Medals from the Governor.
