Rahul Bose, Aparshakti Khurana, Ishwak Singh, and Anupria Goenka’s film Berlin, after making waves at numerous international film festivals, is finally set to premiere on Zee5 on September 13. The thriller revolves around a sign language expert brought in to interrogate and interpret for a deaf and mute spy on behalf of the government. The movie marks the first time these talented actors will collaborate on screen. Anupria Goenka, a self-proclaimed fan of Rahul Bose, couldn’t contain her excitement at the thought of sharing screen space with him.
In Berlin, Anupria plays a honey-trap and shares some intimate moments with Rahul, depicted through a series of photographs. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, she opened up about filming these scenes and how it caught Rahul off guard. “Rahul, who is known to be a method actor, said, ‘I don’t know her. I’m seeing her for the first time.’ If you ask him now, he’ll claim he had it all under control, but honestly, he was so flustered,” Anupria laughs.
The experience even helped her move beyond her fan-girl feelings. “Here was this brilliant actor, someone who’s done all kinds of roles, and yet he was a bit shy that day because we had to shoot an intimate scene! We weren’t technically filming, just posing for some photos. I can’t tell you how shy he was, and I loved watching him like that! The fan girl in me quickly turned into someone who was teasing him,” she recalls with a grin.
Anupria, known for her roles in Padmaavat and War, also revealed that Rahul’s usual chatter came to a halt. “For someone who’s always talking, he was so quiet that day. It was just me and Atul [Sabharwal], our director, figuring out the scene while Rahul was like an object we moved around for the shots. He even joked about me being taller than him, and I told him to put on a pair of heels!”
Despite their initial awkwardness, Anupria said the duo managed to “crack” the scene perfectly. “The pictures turned out beautifully, even though it was an uncomfortable situation. We had just met for the first time, and I had to appear confident, like I had control over the scene, without letting my nerves show. It was quite an experience,” she adds.
Anupria also confessed that she used to have a crush on Rahul when she was younger. “Growing up, we all have our fantasies about our favourite stars, and for me, it was Rahul Bose. I think I manifested working with him. On the day of the shoot, I kept thinking, ‘Who would’ve thought I’d get to act with him, and in such an intimate scene?’ I had faith in the universe’s magic at that moment,” she reminisces.
