Do Patti Star Kriti Sanon Has No Plans to Direct Films: 'Director’s Job Is Far More...' | Exclusive
Kriti Sanon was a part of the music room with the composers of Do Patti and jammed with Kanika Dhillon on the script. However, she has no plans of direction.

Last month, Kriti Sanon’s maiden production venture Do Patti co-starring Kajol wrapped up after four months. Touted to be a mystery thriller set in the hills of North India, it also marks writer Kanika Dhillon’s debut as a producer under her banner, Kathha Pictures. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Kriti, who backed the film under her production house Blue Butterfly Films, reveals that she was involved with the various aspects of the filmmaking process.

Talking about how it taught her the nitty-gritty of scriptwriting, she tells us, “I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. I enjoyed sitting on the script with Kanika and figuring certain creative things and how a script actually starts from a germ of an idea, goes through so many stages, and finally takes the shape of a film.”

The National Award-winning actor further confides that apart from being a part of the writing process, she was engaged in making the music of Do Patti. “I was also involved with the music of the film and I loved it. I love music in general and I loved being involved as a producer who jams with music composers and figuring what sounds right for the film. I felt like a baby who has started and has so much to learn,” she states.

In July last year, Kriti launched her production house because she felt that after nine years in the film industry, it was ‘time to shift the gear’. “I always had a creative side to me that I wanted to explore not just through acting but also through every aspect of filmmaking. I’ve always been very curious about every department. Whatever I’ve learned is on the job. I constantly keep thinking about scenes and what new can be done to elevate them and the film in its entirety,” she says.

The Bhediya and Adipurush actor adds, “And I don’t think about these things only from the perspective of my character. That’s why I decided to be on the other side of the camera so that I could get creatively involved with the project as a whole, especially the ones I’m really passionate about.”

However, she’s quick to add that after acting and producing, she doesn’t intend on trying her hands at direction. Revealing the reason behind it, the actor, who will next be seen in a romantic comedy alongside Shahid Kapoor, says, “I love being in front of the camera a lot. A director’s job is far more difficult and you have to stay with that one project for a very long time. I don’t think I can do that. Laxman (Utekar) sir would tell me that I would direct someday but I used to keep telling him that I’m happy just being an actor. As of now, I’m tapping into the creative side of me as a producer.”
