Exclusive | Siddharth Roy Kapur BREAKS Silence on Aranyak 2 Delay, Gives Update on Ishaan Khatter's Pippa
Siddharth Roy Kapur shares exciting updates on Raveena Tandon's Aranyak 2 and Ishaan Khatter's Pippa. He also speaks about the response to Tumse Na Ho Payega.

Aranyak starring Raveena Tandon released in 2021 and opened to wide critical acclaim. However, reports started doing the rounds last year that Netflix has decided to not revive the show for a second season because they were allegedly not satisfied with the script and the return on investment. Speaking to News18 Showsha a while back, Tandon refuted the rumours and attributed the delay to the fact that Aranyak 2 was taken ‘back to the drawing board and started all over again because the expectation from season two is very high’.

However, rumour mills continue to remain abuzz with the speculation that its season two has been put on the back burner. In an exclusive chat with News18, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur slams all the conjectures and states the audience will get an update on the next season very soon. “We’ll be making an announcement pretty quickly. I’m happy to say that it’s on track,” he told us. For the unversed, the series saw Tandon a police officer investigating the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl in Himachal Pradesh.

On the other hand, the shoot of Kapur’s other project, Pippa, a war drama starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur and Priyanshu Painyuli, is long over with no update on its release. In March this year, Kapur along with RSVP’s Ronnie Screwvala and Kamal Gianchandani of PVR Inox took to social media and announced that the film won’t be released on OTT. The delay in its release gave rise to a lot of chatter on social media on whether it has been pushed indefinitely.

But Kapur clears the air and tells us, “[It will release] quite soon… we believe over the next few months. We’re figuring out the best way to release the film. We’re very happy with it and it should come to audiences shortly.”

At present, Kapur is basking in the success of his recent Disney+ Hotstar release, Tumse Na Ho Payega. Happy with the response it has garnered, the producer says, “It has been unanimously good. The whole team is really thrilled. It’s trending at number one on the platform, which is great news. But more than that, the theme of the film is connected so deeply with the youth of the country. It speaks to the challenges they face today where they want to chart their own path and break out from the shackles of a full-time job but the whole ‘log kya kahenge’ and conditioning stops them from giving up a job they probably don’t enjoy because it helps them pay the bills.”

He further adds, “The film is also about the pressure that social media puts on the lives of today’s youth where you’re confronted with other people’s success that seems to dictate what success should be in general. All of this told in a very fun and entertaining way and that’s what has touched a chord.”
