Kumar Sanu Reveals 'Ek Din Aap' Was Almost Cut From SRK, Juhi Chawla's Yes Boss: 'We Recorded It But...' | Exclusive
Kumar Sanu revealed how the timeless classic 'Ek Din Aap Yunhi Mil Jayenge' from Yes Boss almost didn't make it to the final cut of the film.

Imagine recording a song so good that it becomes a massive hit—except, it almost never saw the light of day! In the whirlwind career of legendary playback singer Kumar Sanu, there are a few such gems tucked away in the archives, some of which only made it to the audience by a stroke of fate.

Recently, in an exclusive and candid chat with News18 Showsha, Kumar Sanu opened up about one such track that could have easily been lost to the sands of time. “You know, sometimes these songs pop up on YouTube labeled as ‘unreleased,’” he shared with a nostalgic chuckle. “I see them and think, ‘Oh, I sang this song, but it was never released!’”

One particular track, however, holds a special place in his memory. It was a song from the film ‘Yes Boss’, titled ‘Ek Din Aap Yunhi Mil Jayenge’. This wasn’t just any song—it was a potential chartbuster. “We recorded it, but it wasn’t included in the film,” Sanu reminisced. The story takes a twist when the film’s producer and director, after realising the song’s immense potential, faced a conundrum: they had no room for it in the movie. “They said, ‘This song is so good, it will definitely be loved by everyone. What should we do with it?’” Sanu recalled.

The solution? A creative decision to include the song in the title sequence, rather than letting it languish in obscurity. And boy, did that gamble pay off! “Believe it or not, that song became the biggest hit of the album,” Sanu revealed, still amazed at its success. Even without a full-fledged music video, ‘Ek Din Aap Yunhi Mil Jayenge’ was featured on cassettes and CDs, quickly becoming the most popular track from the film. “To this day, it has had a significant impact on popular culture,” Sanu added, with a sense of pride.

But ‘Ek Din Aap’ didn’t just stay in the ’90s—it traveled through time, finding its way into the hearts of a whole new audience. Fast forward a few decades, and this classic found a new home in the charming world of Dhruv Segal and Mithila Palkar’s romantic comedy series, Little Things. The song became a significant part of the on-screen couple’s journey, adding depth to their relationship and, in the process, securing a spot in the playlists of Gen-Z.

Who would have thought that a song from a ’90s Bollywood film would resonate with a generation more familiar with streaming platforms than cassette tapes? But that’s the magic of ‘Ek Din Aap’—it’s a song that transcends time, connecting lovers across decades with its universal message of love and destiny. Whether you’re a die-hard Shah Rukh fan or a Little Things binge-watcher, ‘Ek Din Aap’ is the tune that gently reminds us all that some songs—and the feelings they evoke—are truly timeless.
