If you have to describe the Pragya Jaiswal style quotient, the first word that pops into your mind is ‘glamorous chic’. The undeniably sexy and gorgeous star knows what makes her stand out from the crowd.
A versatile actor and a stylist’s dream to work with, Pragya’s fashion moments in 2023 comprised stunning, bold and celebratory styles that complemented her to the T. In an exclusive conversation with News18, Pragya Jaiswal talks about what fashion trends she followed, her favourite red carpet look, and how she would like to describe fashion in 2023.
Excerpts from the interview:
Looking back at the year in fashion, what trends have been your favourites?
Looking back in 2023, I think my favourite has to be the cherry red trend. Especially in the last six months, I have worn a lot of red, and I have really been obsessed with it. I have enjoyed wearing it because it feels so fresh, powerful, and makes me feel confident and sexy.
A style that made a comeback this year and you loved exploring.
It has to be the waistcoats. I was excited about it, but I haven’t had a chance to explore it yet. But I would love to, super soon.
A 2023 red carpet look of yours was special.
This year, I attended IIFA in the month of May, and I wore a full-sleeved power shoulder crop top that was backless and paired it with a high-waisted fitted long skirt with a train. It was custom-made by fashion designer Manika Nanda and styled by Sukriti Grover. The ensemble made a powerful and strong statement, and I loved wearing it.
A designer you loved collaborating with this year.
It is very hard to pick one favourite designer. I shot for the cover of Aza magazine, and I adorned an array of Indian wear for the shoot. I love wearing Indian wear, and they were all such stunning outfits. It was my favourite shoot of the year, and it was really fun collaborating with them.
Things about Pragya’s style quotient nobody knows…
I need to be comfortable in whatever I wear, and it needs to fit me well.
I would rather be overdressed than underdressed. I can go OTT and super bling even when it is not needed, but I will not be underdressed.
I love wearing bold, bright colours and love to experiment.
My go-to off-duty style look is a pair of shorts and a loose T-shirt.
Which Gen Z style trend did you love and hate this year?
I loved colour blocking, and the trend that didn’t resonate much with me was metallics.
Is there a makeup trend you loved experimenting with this year?
This year was about how less is more. Eyes are super soft, and lips are super soft. The makeup was super fresh, young, and minimal, and that is something that I have been working on and trying to keep as natural as possible.
How would you describe fashion in 2023?
Fun, flirty, bold and beautiful.
