London: Arsenal are reportedly poised to break their transfer record with a 17 million pounds move for Valencia midfielder Juan Mata.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish club, with the Emirates Stadium being viewed as a potential destination for the World Cup winner.
Valencia boss Unai Emery had previously admitted that his player could leave if the right offer were to arrive, while club president Manuel Llorente has maintained that the Under-21 European Championship winner was not for sale.
However, technical secretary Bralui Vazquez has since admitted that there are back-up plans in place if the player leaves this summer.
Now The Mirror claims that the Gunners have come to an agreement with Valencia over the potential sale of Mata, while The Sun reports that the player himself has told friends that he is set to join the north London club.
Meanwhile, The Independent reports that Manchester City's failure to land Ashley Young - who joined Manchester United - and Samir Nasri has changed their focus towards signing the Spaniard.
Mata has made 172 appearances for Valencia, scoring 46 goals in the process.
