Atletico de Kolkata, the franchise from the 'City of Joy' in India was the first born to Indian Super League. The franchise immediately rings a familiar bell to football fans, especially those who follow the Spanish La Liga.
The club is co-owned by Atletico de Madrid - the current La Liga champions and runners up from the 2014 Champions League. The club joined hands with former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly who has a huge fan following, especially in Kolkata.
